A great new tool to filter through Legacy Libraries

Currently, as a celebration of Software Version 50 of Logos Bible Software, Faithlife is running a special Legacy Library sale that allows you to get 50% off any Legacy Gold Library when you purchase it together with a current library (or 55% with a subscription).

This is the best price many of these libraries have ever reached — I wrote about the deal in more detail here ->

The Main Challenge

The main difficulty, however, is not the deal itself, but the number of options.

There are around 50 different Gold libraries included, which makes it quite time-consuming to go through them all and find the best one.

A Helpful Tool

I had already started analyzing them to provide purchase recommendations when I came across a helpful tool: the Logos Legacy Library Finder by Michel Pauw.

It allows you to filter libraries based on your preferences, such as:

  • theological tradition
  • types of resources (commentaries, dictionaries, original languages, etc.)

The tool has been released quite recently, and the filter options are still somewhat limited.
For example:

  • it currently only works for Gold libraries
  • you cannot yet filter by specific commentary types (e.g., exegetical vs. homiletical)

It was probably planned for a later release, but for the current sale, it was quickly assembled to already be usable. Even now, it is quite helpful—and there is good reason to expect it will improve over time.

I do not know Michel Pauw personally, but according to the information on his page, he is a Translation Advisor with Wycliffe and SIL PNG. So by using his tool and affiliate links, you may also be supporting his missionary work.

Logos Price Tracker vs. Legacy Library Finder

I created Logos Price Tracker to help you find great deals and get the resources you are interested in as cheaply as possible.

However, if you are not set on particular resources and simply want to expand your collection with solid material, Michel Pauw’s tool may actually serve you better in this situation.

General Recommendation

As a general note: all Legacy Gold Libraries—especially those from Logos 7 and newer—are currently at very good prices.

Since my goal is to help you use the money God has entrusted to you as wisely as possible for learning more about Him, I want to make you aware of this tool so you can check whether the library you are considering is truly the best fit for your purposes.

Saving an Extra 5%

If you do not currently have a Logos subscription, you might consider using the 2-month free trial to get the additional 5% discount.

If you have already used the trial, one month of Logos Premium for $9.99 can still be worth it—but this depends on the regular price of the library, not what you actually pay after discounts.

The 5% discount is applied to the original price.

Example:

  • Regular price: $850
  • 5% discount: ~$42.50 savings
  • Minus $9.99 subscription cost
  • → You still save about $30

This is true even if your final checkout price is much lower.
